I’ve been kind of obsessed with Zhu Zhu Pets lately, and so have a lot of other people.
If you’re the type who doesn’t mind waiting, Target on Amazon.com has Zhu Zhu Pets for pre-order for $7.98 each, and they won’t charge your credit card till they ship — plus they’ll email you with an estimated delivery date:

If you’re the type that wants one of those hamsters in your hand now, let me share how I found the Zhu Zhu Pets toy hamsters and accessories in stock for only $8 per hamster, and only $15 for the Zhu Zhu Hamster Wheel & Tunnels and $10 for the Zhu Zhu Surfboard and Sleep Dome at a WalMart store about 9 miles away from me:
Go to WalMart.com’s store locator, call your stores and give the toy department these Zhu Zhu Pets UPC codes — and pray for the favor of God for them to be nice to you and look it up by UPC code…
We all know some WalMart employees can be nicer than others. So call all the WalMart locations that you’re willing to drive to and ask for the toy department, praying all the time for a good, helpful employee.
Some will tell you right off the bat that they are sold out — and some will give you more detailed information about when the next shipment of Zhu Zhu pets are coming in stock — and some will go out of their way to tell you the EXACT date or location of the Zhu Zhu Pets (whether they are just on order, in the warehouse and coming in one or two days, or whether they are sitting on the shelves) if you ask them to kindly check the UPC code of the Zhu Zhu Pet you’re looking for.
I’ve found that the Zhu Zhu Pets (formerly known as Go Go Pets) UPC codes are kind of all over the place, but here are a lot of them…

…according to the Target.com website (find the link below), which says some of the Zhu Zhu Pets items ship in 2 – 4 weeks, while other Zhu Zhu Pets hamsters and accessories won’t be available until November 15, 2009 — I read that somewhere.
Calling my local Toys R Us stores (3 of them) didn’t yield much information for me — though they were nice people — I gave one Toys R Us clerk two of the above UPC codes and she looked it up but “had no idea when they were going to get in” — and I don’t know if that’s because the Zhu Zhu Pets are never coming in stock at local Toys R Us stores for $7.99 or $8 at all and are available only online?

So use those links to either try and find a Zhu Zhu Pet in stock at the regular price (signing up for the “email me when available” has garnered me NO emails yet) — or to use the UPC Codes listed above to find Zhu Zhu Pets at your local WalMart for $7.99 or $8.00.
WalMart is the only place I’ve found Zhu Zhu Pets actually in stock for $8 thus far. Not WalMart.com, but the actual store Wal-Mart. I don’t see anything for “Zhu Zhu” or “GoGo Pets” nor “Go Go Pets” under WalMart.com’s toy section.
The Hallmark store I called didn’t have any. And Target.com has some listed here under “GoGo Pets” — one I signed up to be notified because they were out of stock, the other says it’ll be in stock in 2 – 4 weeks for the two-pack of Zhu Zhu Pets.

That’s what some people have been doing in droves — ones who want the Zhu Zhu Pets toy hamster sensation, but don’t have the time nor inclination to hunt them down for cheap.
I gave my kids one Zhu Zhu pets hamster each, then listed the other 5 Zhu Zhu Pets hamsters for cheap on Amazon — around $21.99 each (because Amazon takes fees, and I had to deduct my shipping expenses for priority mail shipping, packing materials, etc.) — and they went like hotcakes in two days because I priced mine really low compared to the other sellers and my profit was only a few bucks each per hamster.
I’m not sure if I’ll do that again — capitalism at its fines! — but at least the venture gave me the experience to write this post and help others track down Zhu Zhu Pets for their own children, hopefully for cheap.
