Warning: We believe your account was recently accessed from United States, NY – How to fix this Gmail warning

So if you logged onto to Gmail and got this weird warning from whatever location: “Warning: We believe your account was recently accessed from United States…” or “China” or wherever — try and catch it before you move on.

The first time it popped up in my Gmail account I was moving around so fast, I didn’t get to click through for more info.

The second time it popped up, I caught it, and clicked thru the “learn more” or whatever button to find out more about who tried to access my Gmail account.

Then it gave me some IP addresses and locations in red that I know I didn’t log in from.

So I chose the “sign out all other sessions” button to sign those out.

Then it will say:

Successfully signed out all other sessions.
Note: Users can log in again if they know your password or have it saved on their computer. If you are concerned about someone using your account without your permission, please change your password.

That “change your password” will lead you right to the link to change your Gmail password (which is really your Google Account password) and they’ll tell you when you hit a strong password.

Wouldn’t hurt to change it all across many accounts and platforms, too. Just in case.
