Skechers Shape Up Shoes Getting Good Reviews

Skechers Shape Up Shoes Getting Good Reviews

★★★ Sketchers Shape Ups – Here’s Skechers Shape Up Shoes for Women, Men, Reviews, Price, Where to Buy Sketchers Shape-Up Shoes and More…

I’m watching Wheel of Fortune, and that’s where I saw an ad for Skechers Women’s Shape Ups – Sleek Fit Fitness Mary Jane Sneaker for the first time ever.

I’ve heard of shape-up shoes before, like the Fit Flops and MBT Shape Up shoes, but I didn’t know a company as popular as Sketchers made any get-in-shape exercise shoes till I just saw the commercial showing a woman walking in comfort.

Do the Sketchers Shape-Up Shoes Really Work? I Guess if You Work Them, They Do…But Here are Customer Reviews

…of the Sketchers’ shape up shoes to read for yourself here, with people who’ve actually bought the Sketchers Shape Up shoes saying they like them better than MBT, mostly. They are about 11 reviews as of this writing, so we’ll see if the positive reviews of the Skechers shape-up exercise shoes for women grow.

★★★ The Sketchers Shape-Up for Men Shoes Also Generating a Lot of Interest…

I see searches coming in for the Sketcher’s shape up shoes for men, too — after all, men like getting in shape — so I hunted down these Skechers Men’s Shape Ups Lace Up, priced at $110 right now on Amazon.

Those Sketchers shape ups for men running? walking shoes — I guess you can run in them, huh? — have no customer reviews yet, but hopefully they are as well-liked as the ones for women.

I’m really wanting a pair of these shoes to walk around in. I haven’t been to the gym in maybe two weeks, and I’d like to get a pair of these for the fall and winter to just walk around in and get my thighs in better shape without really thinking about it.

People Love the Sketchers Shape-Up Shoes Price of Around $99 and Up Mostly…

…which is cheaper than the MBT or other shoes.

So we’ll see how the sales go.

In the meantime, a whole lot of people are searching for all things Sketchers and Skechers Shape Up shoes each day:

and i doubt your supposed to wear them while pregnant.

Shape ups are made to help posture along with working your legs out and whatnot. The reason most peoples backs will hurt the first few days is because you have to get you to the posture. Usually your back will stop hurting a couple days after wearing them. I love mine. :)

After about of year of wearing skechers shape ups I have developed hip problems. I limp and can’t sleep on my left side. So painful, I can’t wear the shoes anymore!

I bought these shoes Sept of 2009 and at first I loved them. I am a RN and work 12 hour shifts and it was like walking on a cloud. I have flat feet so my feet would burn after work and the Sketchers Shape Ups minimalized it greatly. However, I noticed an increase in lower back pain when wearing them at first. I have some herniated discs and figured it was temporary muscle soreness from the change in posture these shoes create. A few months later I got pregnant and developed a problem with my SI joints that landed me on bedrest because I couldn’t walk. I thought it was the weight gain that caused it all, but my baby is now 8 months old and my lower back pain is so bad I am in constant pain. My hip joints are shot now too and I can only lay in bed 2 hours max before the pain is so bad I wake up because I can barely move. I had to have MRIs, multiple rounds of cortisone injections and there is talk with my Dr about a L4-S1 lami with fusion. I decided that to help my back I would replace my mattress and buy new work shoes. The new mattress did nothing and this time I tried the Reebok version of the Shape Ups. Within hours of wearing them my back pain subsided and my hips don’t hurt. Now I realize it was the Sketchers that caused ALL those problems! I know they are great for a lot of people, but I think my low back problems and flat feet are a bad combo for that style of shoe. I just hope the damage caused from wearing them isn’t permanent.

I bought these shoes about two months ago. I loved them, it was like walking on a cloud. Then one night I awoke with pain in my back and hips, also was getting shin splints at the same time. I was unable to lay on my back or on my side. The next day went for a walk (minus the sketchers) and my left knee started hurting. I had problems with this knee, but it had been fine for the previous six months.
That was Thursday, it is now Monday and the pain is slowly going away. I do fine once I start walking, it seems to loosen up.
I am extremely disappointed as I really enjoyed the comfort of those shoes, but I’m just not ever going to chance wearing them again. The consequences for me wearing them is way too much.

I bought my sketchers in September, wore for about 2 weeks out of no where started having problems with both knees
Went to Nuro to find out when wearing them i put pressure on back, pinched nerve is now cutting off feeling to legs, reason for knee pain. Very Unhappy!

shoes are great, very comfortable but my wife’s shoes have developed a foul odor as though a cat urinated in just one shoe. I checked every room in our home in search of the odor, bought sprays and room fresheners to no avail. Finally found source to be the sketcher shoe. What gives? and how do you get rid of the odor besides throwing away the sneakers. Help

I bought 2 pair of Shape Ups a little over a year ago. I wore them all the time and have a job where I walk a lot. I loved them at first. They were so comfortable and my posture is better, my legs felt more toned up. My weight went up but the size was a little smaller so I figured it was shaping me up. However, after about 6 months in each pair of the shoes they must wear down inside and I now have a lot of pain in my knees. I had recommended them to a few friends at work and they have been wearing them and loved them at first but now one girl has numbness in her feet and her hip hurts and the other girl has so much pain in her feet she had to put them up. The only thing I can come up with that makes it this way is, when you wear them down inside a little it makes you walk differently. I noticed my foot started slanting in and I decided today that even though I have spent quite a bit on 2 pair it isn’t worth the pain in my knees. I wish it would have worked out since I loved the way it made my legs feel at first.

I was so excited to purchase my sketchers. I have RA and knew if I could find some shoes that would take the pressure off the top front of my feet, maybe I could loose weight. I started slowly, walking at a wonderful indoor walking track, taking my elderly parents. Great for my feet, I was so excited, but my back started hurting, and I assumed it would get better…correcting my posture…it would be natural to experience some pain, right. Well…after 3 weeks of walking…the pain got so bad, I have made 5 visits a week to 3 different chiropractors since they all treat differently…and have had 6 massages with her working on my lower back. I am still seeing a chiropractor several times a week, am being very careful about bending and crossing my legs and picking up things as instructed by them. I have an apt. with an orthopedic dr. this week…fully expect an mri. Oh how I regret the day. I am accustomed to pain from RA, and have been on much medicine for 20 years…and it has kept me from crippling. I have never taken pain medicine, it just made me feel yucky. But during the past month I have taken darvocet twice a day for it just to take the edge off my back pain. I had never had low back pain before. My sister had brought a pair of sketchers too, but has not used them yet…afraid of the same problem. I know how hopeful I was to have them help me get in shape, but the money I have spent trying to stop the pain has been significant and I’m afraid it’s not over yet. I just could not in good conscience recommend them, it’s just not worth the risk. Mine will never be worn again!

I bought the shape ups in the beginning of the summer, figuring I would get a better burn from them. I walked releigiously all summer, 3 miles every other day or sountil I developed bursitis in my left hip.At first I thought it was caused by my increase in walking. Then after the bursitis calmed down with a shot of cortisone my lower back started in, very painful. It feels as if my bulging discs are back. I am going for an MRI tomorrow. I sit for 1/2 hour and can hardly get up. It takes me about 10 minutes to feel like a human being again. I have been pain free in my back for the last 5 years. So my guess is that it is the Sketchers. Nothing else has changed, and I have walked this much in the past. The only change is the SNEAKERS. I only wish I could prove it!

Tony November 5, 2010 at 9:56 am

I have had severe knee problems since I wore these shoes..Told me primary about it and…..Went to have an MRI and now my doctor has told me I have a tear in miniscus…am seeing an orthopedic surgeon on Monday….is anyone considering taking them to court for this? please email me at rideneasy2005@yahoo.com
Thanks

My husband and I bought sketchers for use while we were on 5 weeks vacation this summer. I stopped wearing mine after two days because my knees and back hurt. My husband worse his even tho he started feeling pain and has had a Bone Scan, Xray & MRI to find out why he had excruiating back and hip pain. Two months in, he is starting to feel better. NEVER BUY THESE.

EMMA October 20, 2010 at 9:29 am

I thought they were great at first. Now it’s been 3 1/2 months weaing. A month and a half ago my lower back started hurting and getting worse. I just realizes it might be these shoes. So out they go to see if the lower back pain goes away, I hope.

mags October 11, 2010 at 12:29 am

I am very disturbed by all the comments re skechers..I loved my shoes so much that when I was recently in US I bought two more pair as they are much cheaer than OZ, however have begun to have pain in my l hip and knee, both previously sensitive areas. I will be so dissapointed if it is the shapeups as they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn I’ve worn them now for two months. Has anyone continued to wear them after the onset of pain and been succesfull.

Jill September 13, 2010 at 6:18 am

I have had my tone ups for a couple of months. I love them for my plantars faciitus but now my knee is hurting.
I can’t walk in any other shoes because of the foot problems but it seems like the shoe is causing this knee to hurt.
Don’t know what to do?

sad3 September 10, 2010 at 4:46 pm

Sketchers shape up kinetix. Less than 30 miles walked. Seam coming loose on front. Men’s size 10.5 medium

cdunham September 9, 2010 at 1:58 pm

I am home after 8 days in the hospital. Was in great shape before I wore the Sketchers. 4 hrs. a week at the Y in exercise and water exercise classes. Wore these shoes in the house. Tried to plug in a vacuum cleaner in a wall outlet. Was thrown off balance. Went over backwards. Broke two ribs and ended up in the hospital. Never had such pain before. I would not recommend these shoes to anyone.

JimG September 5, 2010 at 8:31 am

I have had a pair of Shapeups since April. I am now having to deal with strained (maybe torn) Achilles tendons in both feet, excruciatingly painful and almost incapacitating, and an issue I have never had before in my life.

Advocate September 2, 2010 at 9:36 pm

All of these bad reviews on shape ups I’d have to say are coming from the same person, probably the competition. You’re experiencing pain either because you don’t know how to properly walk in them, they aren’t normal tennis shoes people! Or you’ve had such bad posture or walking habits for so many years, and shape ups are trying to correct them. I personally would recommend these shoes to anyone, anytime, anywhere. Best investment in my body. Better than a gym membership.

DetroitTiggerFan August 29, 2010 at 7:22 am

Eeeeuuuuw! Who peed in the closet? Next to the sofa? Under the chair? Nobody. It’s gotta be the shoes! Yup. Shape Ups stink. Literally. This is my second pair and I LOVE the shoes for walking comfort, but obviously after extended wear there’s a chemical malfunction and stink happens…big time. It is my only complaint. The smell didn’t happen with my first pair which I wore out from use, so we’ll see what happens with the two new pairs I’ve bought. Love them, learn to love the stink, I guess

mauric August 28, 2010 at 11:11 am

I looked at these today and i loved the way they felt. I have been reading everyone’s reviews and now i am a little scared! Those with backpain, do you have high arches maybe? I’m just asking to see what could be causing it. i suppose i can buy them and if i begin to hurt sell them on ebay! haha

My mother was having horrrrrrrible horrible back pains. So bad she was having problems getting out of bed. She had been wearing her shape ups to work, on her feet 8 hours a day. One day she didn’t wear them and her back instantly felt a ton better. After only a few days of not wearing the shape ups, she was free from back pain.

kelfair August 10, 2010 at 11:10 am

I’ve had surgery for plantar fasciitis. These shoes are the only ones I can wear without heel pain. My orthodics fit perfectly in them. I would reccommed them highly. I stand for 8 hours a day at work, my shape ups are great!

m August 4, 2010 at 7:38 am

Yes, the shoes can cause back problems. My doctor told me to throw them away on my first visit for back pain. He stated he has had several people come in with back issues after wearing those shoes. I only had them a month and could not bring myself to throw 100.00 dollar shoes away and continued to wear them. I deeply regret it now. I am in sever pain every day and forced to take prescription medicine in order to be half way functional.

keith July 29, 2010 at 3:33 pm

I have Plantar Facitis heel painand am considering buying apair of shape ups. What are the latest thoughts and feedbacks on these issue and these shoes. I also have some Knee tendon issues

Elizabeth July 15, 2010 at 11:07 am

I bought these shoes several months ago and do like them. I didn’t find all their claims to be true but they do give your legs and back a workout. I’ve seen a visible difference.

Kristin July 6, 2010 at 10:15 am

I bought the Sketcher work out shoes. I don’t feel like they are any more of a work out than regular tennis shoes. They are comfortable, but when I wear them for a few hours and then take them off, my middle toes cramp like a Charlie Horse. This same thing happens to my friend who wears them. Save your money.

jeanette July 5, 2010 at 5:23 pm

I bought the tone-up flip flop like sandals and had no instructions in my shoe box….unfortunately I wore them for 6 hours straight and have had back problems ever since. I am experiencing extreme pain in my back, hip and thigh….people please be aware!

smookie July 2, 2010 at 8:59 am

I bought Sketchers Shape Ups almost 1 month ago. Felt a little awkward at first then became pretty comfortable. Tried to work up – wore them gradually more each time I wore them. Last Sunday woke up with back pain bilat. lower lumbar area which progressed to excruciating muscle spasms and severe pain. I couldn’t get up out of bed for 2 days. Finally made it to the chiropractor who also thought I may have kidney stones. Urine negative. SLOWLY getting better. Returning my shoes today. I can’t risk more of that kind of pain!

bpeters July 1, 2010 at 6:36 pm

oh… yeah they have become odiferous! I’m going to try some odor eaters.

bpeters July 1, 2010 at 6:34 pm

My skechers are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever owned. I walk up to 5-miles a day on hard surfaces for work, have had a broken tibia, and an ACL replacement in my right leg and a broken left ankle. Walking in these shoes eliminated the trauma to these injuries. I fell much better at the end of the day! I have recommended them to several friends and a few strangers…

debbie July 1, 2010 at 8:27 am

I wore these shoes for about a month and starting noticing that my feet were turning inward when I walked. My knees were hurting also. I now have permanent knee pain. Stopped wearing the shoes but it was too late. These shoes should be taken off the market!! Very dangerous.

jay june 21 2010 June 21, 2010 at 1:21 pm

i am really disappointed in these shape up shoes i have had them less then 2 months and they r falling appart what a waste of money the insides of shoes are coming out they not holding up at all

KLyday June 17, 2010 at 3:36 pm

HAS ANYONE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE SHOES DEVELOPING A BAD ODOR???!!! I’VE OWNED MINE FOR ABOUT 8 WEEKS NOW… AND NOTICED THAT IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS, THE SHOES (NOT MY FEET OR SOCKS) BEGAN HAVING A STRONG, PUTRID AMMONIA-TYPE SMELL. THE SMELL STAYS WITH THE SHOES… MAKING THE CLOSET SMELL… NOT MY FEET OR SOCKS.
AT FIRST, I SUSPECTED THAT MAYBE A CAT HAD URINATED IN THE CLOSET… BUT NOTICED THAT THE SMELL STARTED “FOLLOWING” ME AROUND AND DISCOVERED THAT IT WAS MY SHOES!!!
ANYONE ELSE??!!

Val June 15, 2010 at 11:47 am

I bought Sketchers for my heel problem, the doctor said they were fine. After a few weeks I started getting muscle spasms and painful cramps in my calves at night. I stopped wearing them and the cramps and spasms stopped. Does the manufaturer refund the price if the shoes cause problems?

fishmamma June 3, 2010 at 7:06 am

I bought the Sketcher Shape-Ups about three weeks ago and have horrible back pain after wearing them. I am a nurse, so I stand a lot during the day. Initially, I thought they were great shoes, as my legs weren’t as tired when I got home, but my back pain is more than making up for it. I’m in great shape, suppose to run a half marathon this weekend, but haven’t been able to run at all for past two weeks due to these shoes and my lower back pain.

lsand May 30, 2010 at 2:52 pm

I purchased sketchers shape-ups sandals around Mother’s day as a gift to myself. And I love wearing them. They are so comfy and make me want to just keep walking. I also like the added height, since I’m short. But recently I’ve had lower back pain, that is manageable during the day with ibuprophen, but worse when sleeping. And getting up in the morning is very painful. I thought maybe it was from over doing it on a bike ride last weekend, but now I’m thinking it might be from the shoes. I hope not because they are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. I don’t know if I should stop wearing them or not. I wear them to work, and walk my dog about 60 minutes a day in them.

michelleshocked May 22, 2010 at 2:35 pm

I believe Paiget is right when she says “My lower back did start hurting a bit, but I corrected my posture by tucking my hips in and engaging my abs when I walk. And now, no more back pain at all.”

I wear them every day (for Plantar Facitis heel pain) and i have pain in my lower back and legs but not my heels when I wear them a lot. I truely think it is because I am not in shape in other areas like my stomach and back and legs so I think it isnt the shoes but my body.

Robin May 21, 2010 at 1:55 pm

I bought my Shape Ups about 3 weeks ago. I’ve been walking a couple miles a day in them. As much as I want to be able to wear these, I’m experiencing alot of pain in one of my knees now. The pain goes away after a couple of days not wearing them. I’m so disappointed in my Shape Ups and feel like I just threw $100 away. I don’t think I would recommend them to anyone.

Paiget May 14, 2010 at 6:41 am

Have had these for about a week. My lower back did start hurting a bit, but I corrected my posture by tucking my hips in and engaging my abs when I walk. And now, no more back pain at all.

Dave Wilbanks May 10, 2010 at 2:49 pm

Purchased Shape Ups in December ’09.
Loved them, wore them everyday for 2 months.
Oh my aching back and left hip !!

Chiropractor and Prednisone, thought it could
be Kidney Stones !!

I’m sure it’s the shoes. For some they are wonderful, for others a painful experience.
Not for me . I’m selling mine 10 1/2 on ebay !!

peggy kemp May 6, 2010 at 4:41 am

I ore my skechers all day most days after I had followed all the rules and gotten used to them and now I havfe excruciationg pain in my groin and thighs…can hardly walk….I stopped wearing them of course and have had the pain for 3-4 days now…am praying it goes away and am madder than hell at skechers for putiing out so harmful a product.

GrammieD May 5, 2010 at 11:46 am

I have had the Skecher shape ups since Dec. I truly loved them at first, very comfy, followed the DVD and did what was told. Built up to walking 2 miles a day and had muscle pains in my thighs, now I am seeing a chiropractor for lower back problem (2 herniated discs). She advised me not to wear the shoes while under going treatment. Must say, I am alittle leary to start wearing them again as I don’t know if they would help or make my back problems worse. Anyone have experiences like this?

Webby May 2, 2010 at 10:50 am

Oh I love this shoes! My hubby bought this for me recently and I couldn’t be happier! It feels like walking on sand.

I normally wear a size 39 but with this shoes i could wear a size smaller. It’s very comfortable. Loving it!

nhstegink May 2, 2010 at 6:38 am

I am looking forward to recieving my pair of sketchers shape ups! I am working as a CNA currently and I have to stand and walk alot. Even in my best pair of Nike tennis shoes my feet, legs and lower back are cramped after 8 hours. I don’t have any experience with the shape ups as of yet, but will return with more information with my experience when I recieve them. I would reccomend for those with back pain to visit a local chiropractor if necessary and only if you have not had any surgeries on your back or hips. I think If I start to feel back pain after use of the Shape Ups this is where I would begin so that I could make sure my back is in alignment and hopefully the Shape Ups will contribute to keeping it there. I will return with my update within a few weeks.

Cheryl April 27, 2010 at 7:22 pm

Add me to the list of those searching for people who had problems with back pain due to these shoes. I bought the Skechers tone-ups (flip-flop type) & within a few days, I was in extreme pain with my back. Only it is my upper back. (RT. side) I do have a herniated disc, (lower lumbar) so not sure if the shoes are contributing to the problem or not. I didn’t realize there were specific instructions on how to walk in these. The box my shoes were in had nothing but “promo” material about the benefits of the shoes. Is there a dvd online? I am going to stop wearing them for a while & see if the shoes are the cause of the pain. I really liked them at first… so much that I even went back & bought another pair. Don’t know whether to hope it’s the shoes or not. ;) Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences. I will update when I find out.

juliwoo April 24, 2010 at 7:56 am

I also came to this site searching google for these kinds of rocker shoes and lower back pain. I’m old (63) now but in good shape, have done a lot of ballroom and belly dancing in my life, involving posture/back work, isolations, and yoga-type stuff. I feel good all day on these shoes, but am burdened with lower back pain in the night when I sleep, every day waking up with a real desire not to stand up at all for the pain. It goes away with an aspirin and moving around, then doesn’t come back til I tire in the evening or at night when I sleep. Interesting comment above about people with herniated disc. Maybe we suffer more. I had such a disc last year and completely got rid of that pain through movement and acupuncture. I am pretty sure it came from too much bending over a computer without stretching. So I thought the recent lower back pain was the same thing. Now from the comments I see it’s probably the rockers. When my back got herniated, I never felt a thing: I couldn’t walk one day because my leg muscles had been overused taking up the workload from my injured spine. It was the leg muscles that had to be repaired. THIS TIME: it has been lower back pain the whole time, and no leg muscle pain at all. I’m going to stop wearing the shoes and see if it all goes back to old-age “normal.”

sooboo22 April 22, 2010 at 9:58 pm

If you engage your abdominals when you walk, you will protect your lower back.

Mcppo April 21, 2010 at 7:03 am

I went for a walk with my new shape ups and within 2 days had excrutiating back pain to the point of not being able to walk for a few days. When my lower back seemed to be getting a little better I went for another walk in my skechers. Once again my lower back had flared up and I now am on prednisone trying to reduce the inflammation. I will not wear them anymore. I believe the lower back pain is a real issue for some of us with herniated discs.
