I really don’t like The Onion. They are the ones behind the below video satirizing Shawn Johnson, confusing some people to think she is dead — those who didn’t get their silly satire likening Shawn Johnson to a horse that broke its leg and had been put to sleep.
Shawn Johnson is just fine, and reportedly her family and friends are not happy about The Onion viral video saying she was hurt. I already ever read many satire sites. It can be a fine line — I love comedy, but satire like this just doesn’t work for me:

OH MY GOODNESS ! i was on youtube and saw this & almost started crying . why would someone doooo thiiissss ? i feel in love with her in 08 ( not like that ) and it just hurt me to think that would happen to such an amazing person / athlete .

There was actually a couple in another country who’s daughter was a gymnast & when she hurt herself they euthanized her. So I guess The Onion was using that tale for their skit.

Oh, and to those who insult those who thought this wasn’t funny, than screw you. While poorly done, death is not a laughing matter. I seriously doubt Shawn will be laughing when she sees this(which she probably has by now). They could at least say it was a joke at the end of it.

Hey Paula, this IS funny. Any one who does not find this funny and thinks this is over the top needs to get a life (and a sense of humor). Also, if you believed this story from the onion, then you are really dumb and should be euthanized like Shawn Johnson.
I love the Onion, and they nailed it yet again. People, let me explain that what makes this funny is that it is so blatantly absurd. Why would someone be euthanized for breaking their leg? It would NEVER happen, and anyone with half a clue would realize that immediately. It was not meant to be taken seriously, clearly anyone who thought Shawn’s parents would MURDER their daughter is an idiot. Get a sense of humor.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was just on Youtube and checked the video out..I didn’t actually have sound on so I didn’t hear what the parents and hosts were talking about. I read the comments though and some were sold that she was dead and then others were saying how funny this was…which is clearly not a humourous topic. Thanks again.
