It’s funny watching the below video of me in my Not Your Daughters Jeans back in November 2010, when I’d lost 26 pounds.

Right now the dirty snow is melting outside as we approach March 2011, and spring and the bike trails already beckon me to get back to 20-miles-a-day rides and get my size 8 Not Your Daughters Jeans fitting looser again.

Thank God I can still fit the size 8 at all — although I admit they are tighter after a winter of good food and brownies and ice cream.

I’m trying to figure out exactly what cut and style of NYDJ’s I own. I see cut 25909u and style 70227t733 on the slightly faded label on my pair of Not Your Daughters Jeans, which you can see in the video have the little cute design on the back pocket.

 

They aren’t these Not Your Daughter’s Jeans Women’s Straight Leg Denim, because even thought I don’t see a lot of flare in mine, I don’t see the design on the pocket in this pic.

They might be these Not Your Daughter’s Jeans Women’s Lightweight Straight Leg, but it’s kind of hard to tell if there is really a pocket design on the back of these. They are nice and dark, however.

The ones to the left look like the style of denim fabric that my ministry friend’s wife had on, and my sister.

My sister got her pair of jeans from Target — I was expecting her to say her favorite store, the Talbot’s outlet.

I wonder if they know about the Not Your Daughters Jeans yet? Some people balk at the price — when I hung out with my family in a store around 900 North Michigan in Chicago, I delighted to see that they sold the 7 For All Mankind jeans there, because I didn’t see them at my local mall in Akron, Ohio.

Yes, I usually don’t pay $108 for a pair of jeans, but the Not Your Daughters Jeans line is cheaper on Amazon than in my local mall, I see, and I’m glad I bought them.

I haven’t had a C-section — I had both of my children vaginally — but I can see why women who’ve had C-sections would fall in love with these Not Your Daughters Jeans.

 

In January 2005, I did have a hysterectomy, and was left with a nice and beautiful low scar — praise God and Dr. Zebari! — that you can barely see.

But it reminds me of the kind of scar women who’ve had C-sections might have, one invented by Jackie O — I read — when she wanted to be left with a scar low enough to still wear her bikinis. Bikini line scar, it is.

It’s one way I know when it’s time to drop a few pounds, when a little fat starts jutting just a bit over my scar and it’s not as flat as I’d like yet.

However, wearing my Not Your Daughters Jeans kind of holds my stomach in all over with that front that promises to “slim the lower abdomen” and the back that “contours hips” and “lifts rear-ends,” as they say on Amazon.

I agree with all of those — granted, stomach fat has never really been my issue. But I think anything trying to suck in our fat and keeps our hips in place and better under control is a win-win.

I’m 41 as I write this, edging up to my 42nd birthday on April 22, 2011.

 

Another reason I felt compelled to buy these jeans, which has their own store on Amazon, mind you, they are so popular — is because that title just wins me over.

They aren’t jeans that 40-something-year-old women buy to try and look like teenagers.

Frankly, I’d look silly in a pair of Apple Bottoms, or some pants with writing across the bottom that my husband hates. (Does he really hate that, or just tell me that? “They are encourage people to read their butts!” he jokes.)

No, the Not Your Daughters Jeans are made stylishly, not like the “Myrtle Urkel” floods I was wearing back in 2004 as a 35-year-old when my 21-year-old coworker called me that name.

“You need to get you some low riders,” he said back then, and I did. I’m wearing a pair of ripped Converse One Star drop waist jeans I loved so much that I couldn’t find another pair when I went back to New York and Company, who has great long jeans for my long legs, by the way.

But back to NYDJs, the company obviously recognizes what women want, and they are cornering the market.

These Not Your Daughter’s Jeans Women’s Hayden Short look kind of cute from the back, and I like the length.

Yes, the days of booty shorts are over for us — well, at least outside of the house, that is.

Yeah, I still plan to wear my boy shorts swimming suit to Florida and to the pool and to the hot tub at my health club — and I don’t plan to use the longer shorts as an excuse not to get back on that leg lift and lift those two hundos worth of pounds that had me staring at my legs like, “Wow, is that really my muscle?” in the weight room usually mostly comprised of men.

I just love how forgiving longer shorts can be, and with a darker pair with that lovely 1% of Spandex that makes all the difference in the world, the shorts might join my wardrobe too.

Comfortable enough to sleep in…

The rave reviews from women on Amazon made me think of how the jeans are comfortable enough to sleep in. One woman says she ordered a size 14 but got a size 12 by mistake, and sounds estatic that they still fit. She works from home and ditched her PJs for them.

I still think the Not Your Daughters Jeans are more attractive and less slutty than the Pajama Jeans that I’ve seen the infomercial for that lots of folks are talking about.
