New SEO Book – Search Engine Optimization Bible Tip Guide on How to Make Money Online
Yesterday I was in Barnes & Noble reading a new SEO book called Search Engine Optimization Bible.
SEO or SEM? øøø SEO and SEM!
Just when I talked about ditching my SEO efforts and concentrating on making money thru Google Adwords’ search-engine marketing, the SEO Bible book pretty much taught me I could do both.
Reminds me of when my Bishop says “instead of either/or, focus on both/and.”
Want to seriously make money online in 2008?
So if you really want your career to be online marketing, webmastering, blogging and the like, I recommend buying books like the SEO Bible — or at least standing around in bookstores and reading them for free, like I did.
The author gave so many in-depth tips that are hard to repeat or remember here, but I did soak up the section on Google Adwords marketing and her tips to:
- Continually tweak and rewrite your ads to see what works.
- Take advantage of their website optimizer beta to experiment and find out which ads are successful.
- To stay away from dead words that Google doesn’t look at anyway like “and,” “the” and other words that aren’t underlined in blue on the top right-hand side of search-engine results pages.
Advertising With Google Adwords Works!
Finally, after only one or two days using Google Adwords, I see why it works.
If you haven’t already, sign up for Google Adwords, pay the nominal $5 fee or whatever it is, then make sure to research your keywords very well before writing your ad.
When I wrote one ad too generally, I got too many clicks and paid $5 in one day for traffic that I didn’t really have a product to pitch that was worth that much.
But another ad I wrote more specifically in an area that didn’t have much ad competition on Google has already proven well worth it.
On that ad, I spent $2.75 on advertising and the same day reaped $7 in referral fees for the service. So all I need to do is keep doing that 10- and 100-fold to start seriously seeing some profits.
Do you use Google Adwords?
If so, are you making a good profit from it?
Let me know your tips…

Paula,
Just had to comment on this. I recently started writing SEO content for internet marketers (talk about a learning experience).
Content is what drives traffic to websites and learning how to write means throwing out a lot of “proper grammar.”
When you mentioned “stop words,” I had to giggle because before I started SEO writing, I’d never even heard of the term.
Following are two tips for your readers:
1. Optimize for a phrase instead of a word. Most surfers type in 2-3 word phrases, instead of a single word when they are searching. So, when writing content for your site, keep this in mind.
2. Search engines don’t usually recognize punctuation, so, for example, if you are optimizing a page for the term “Texas mortgages” it can appear like this:
It’s easy to get a mortgage in Texas. Mortgages in the state require the following: …
The period between the two phrases will not be counted. Just something to keep in mind. When you’re trying to get between 3-5% density in a 500-word article for an awkward phrase — or any phrase — this can be helpful.
FYI, I’m now making $250/day (sometimes more) as an SEO writer. It’s some of the easiest money I’ve ever made as a freelance writer — and I’ve been doing this since 1993.
For those interested in starting a career as an SEO writer, I recently published an ebook on the subject. Details be found here: http://www.inkwelleditorial.com/e11-excerpt.htm
Thanks for sharing your observations from “standing around reading for free!” Best of luck in 2008.
Best,
