Latasha Norman, Missing Black College Student, Finally Gets National Attention…

by Paula Mooney on November 25, 2007

Thank you to Latimer Williams for hipping me to the plight of Latasha Norman, a 20-year-old Jackson State University student who was last seen November 13, 2007.

I’m glad that places like ABC are finally giving national exposure to the case of Latasha Norman, and comparing the initial lack of press given to her to all the hyper-media focus on 53-year-old Drew Peterson and his missing 23-year-old wife, Stacy.

Of course, I pray both of these women are miraculously found alive and okay — Latasha’s family says they are confident “Tasha” is alive — but sadly, if the women aren’t, I pray that they are comforted by the Comforter Jesus Himself.

Latasha Norman reportedly had been hit by an ex-boyfriend recently, and he has been questioned by police.

I don’t know how much this ex will play into the disappearance of Latasha, but there is hope that she can still come home after so long.

I think about the girl in Utah who came home again after many months, and know that God is able to perform all miracles…

But no matter what, there should be no disparity between the reporting of missing persons’ cases. I understand that the Peterson case had a lot of strange elements of a powerful policeman and the body of his previous wife being exhumed, so of course that depth with take on a large focus.

Yet I’m glad to see more attention being paid to bringing Latasha Norman home safe and sound now:
