KKK Endorses Obama? Yeah, right…
This is why I hate satire sites.
A listing on Google Hot Trends read as such:
Daily Squib (satire) , UK - Feb 07, 2008
Placards for Barack Obama have been put up around the Klan’s Headquarters and the KKK have announced a television ad campaign to support the African …
Did the KKK really endorse Obama?
And now you can see that KKK-endorsing-Obama post has been set to forbidden.
The problem is, other folks are picking up on the KKK and Obama story as if it’s the Gospel truth.
However, Snopes is on the case to quickly dismiss the KKK and Obama piece as what it was intended to be: satire.
I remember I read TheOnion.com years ago, it took me forever to realize it was satire.
The issue continues, obviously, because people are searching up a storm for these terms:
kkk endorses obama, kkk obama, kkk supports obama, obama kkk, ku klux klan endorses obama
As if we would care if they did endorse him…

Ugh! This is the kinda help we DON’T need. I love satire as much as the next person, but we are at such a crucial period in our country. Hopefully we can take some responsibility and support our candidate instead of this mess. And yes, I am an Obama fan. Admittedly, I wouldn’t be as annoyed if they did this with McCain. Makes all the difference when it’s your cause they’re putting the hurt on instead of the other “side.”

I just got a chuckle about your comment about reading the onion…
I say/write facetious things all the time and even my own mother hasn’t clue. I have to basically spell it out when I am just being satirical, which then of course makes it hard to do, because you then worry about being funny and non offensive. I don’t even come up with over the top things like the KKK example and yet people at church complain about my sense of humor. Basically they complain that I have none- whereas my DH thinks I am drop dead hilarious. It seems everyone loves really nutty goofy nonsense and that makes it difficult for those who have a more say deadpan- satirical nature. I tend to appreciate satire quite a bit- not just because it’s funny, but because of the dual nature of it, in which you wonder if “they’re for real- or just pulling your leg.” Just an observation on satire-
