So I finally “repositioned myself” and am changing my method of bringing buyers to my website by using Google Adwords to advertise my websites.

I’d run an advertising campaign before on my dad’s tax website using Google Adwords without much success, but I’ve been newly inspired by Connected Internet’s article called “How to Spend Next to Nothing in Adwords and Rake in a Profit.”

After reading that, I set up three new Google Adwords campaigns - two pitching music products, another pitching a Google product.

It makes sense to pitch products that can make you back more money (like Amazon Associates products, etc.) than your advertising campaign costs.

Getter Better Web Traffic With Better Keywords

By using specific long tail keywords, say for example “buy a doberman puppy online” instead of generic stuff like “buy food” — you’re getting the people most likely to click on your ad and follow thru and buy whatever you’re pitching.

Check how much you’re making versus spending

The best part about Google Adwords campaigns are that you can check to see how much money you’re making (and spending) as often as you want to — and set limits.

For example, I’ve got a couple of my campaigns set at no more than 7 bucks per day, so I won’t go over spending on advertising.

So play around with the minimum amounts you need to pay per click based on your longtail, specific keywords chosen (use my favorite revamped SEO Book Keyword Tool to figure out hot ones, or go with your gut) and play around with what combination will give you the max clicks predicted by Google.

Contrast that with how much of your product or service you’re selling.

Keep the Google Adwords campaigns that make you money

Sounds pretty simple — thank God I gave Google Adwords another try.

The best part is that you don’t have to pay the Google Adwords money right away, so you’ll have time to figure out what’s working and what’s not.

For example, if you’re selling a specific MP3 song that’s costing you $1 per day to advertise, but making you $2 per day in affiliate revenue from Amazon — that’s a win-win advertising situation.

But if it’s the reverse, obviously dump or tweak that campaign to make you more money.

Make Your Google Adwords Get Attention

Write up your Google Adwords to stand out.

One good trick that I believe is helping get attention Blue Hat SEO’s tips for getting your website to stand out in the SERPs, so try out that same philosophy in your Google Adwords — but read thru their terms to make sure it’s okay.

I’m excited!

No wonder some people make so much money using Google Adwords — correctly, that is.

Of course, at the beginning of 2008 I’ll let you guys all know my earnings…
