But you won’t find me pumping those books on my sites. These are the ones I prefer to write under pen names, just so I can write more freely, and not worry about anyone who knows me finding the books and trying to put two and two together and running and squealing and pointing fingers.

How to get your book from Microsoft Word document into the Kindle book store on Amazon in 12 hours…

I’m all pumped up because I just watched this new video from Amazon, showing pretty much step by step how you can upload your book’s cover image and Microsoft Word document onto the Kindle Direct Publishing website, and if it’s in English, it will get published in less than 12 hours or so.

That is just amazing to me, because when I published my first Kindle book one year ago, I went through a whole lot more rigmarole than that. I’m so glad it’ll be easier to get my new titles up and running and selling in no time. And hopefully they’ll sell a lot more than my first book, which sold a handful of copies when it was first published, but then I kind of lost steam and didn’t concentrate on getting more reviews and backlinks.

The video doesn’t give you the basics on how to format your Word document, but you can find some of those formatting tips on this page about publishing a Kindle book.

I do remember that you shouldn’t left or right justify the photos you upload into your Word document, but just leave them centered, if you have any.

“Kindle book titles can be up to 200 characters,” she says in the video — but that doesn’t necessarily mean we should make them that long. I might experiment with shorter titles, and definitely make sure your title is something that people may search for on Amazon, like Divorce Recovery, for example, a title I just came up with by searching on Amazon.com and looking past the titles that are obvious searches for an exact book.

It also helps, perhaps, if the books that do appear in those search results aren’t too popular. But don’t let anything stop you. Try and try again to see what hits — because none of know Amazon’s exact ranking methods — we just know that “likes” and reviews (especially probably from verified buyers) and backlinks and sales all help contribute to positive rankings, and therefore, more sales. And the price matters.

But anyway, after I get my book up and running and published on Amazon, I’m going to visit Fiverr.com and invest 5 bucks on a kid I read that will work his magic and get a bunch of backlinks and social media links to the book’s page and see how much that helps my title be found and sell.

Okay, on to the thieves stealing content and publishing it in Amazon Kindle books

Because Amazon can publish content on Kindle in 12 hours or so, they obviously don’t have time to read all those books.

I’d heard about people stealing classic books and publishing them online — and I’ve even heard a lot about the brouhaha over PLR (private label rights) stuff that can be either great or crooked, depending on who you read.

But yesterday was when I learned about a guy who paid money to learn how to make money with Kindle books from some people on the Warrior Forum — and once they sold him a huge zipped file of what turned out to be stolen content and he got caught and brought it up to the parties, they kicked him out.

It’s interesting how they stole from writers who wrote naughty stuff — thinking those people would be too ashamed to come forward and complain and challenge them.

Imagine your name on a Kindle book...

Ah well, I’m glad God has gifted my fingers and brain to fly fast across a keyboard, like a musician creating a new piece — so I’m not concentrating on stealing any content for my Kindle books — I like the act of creating something new.

And I’m not writing under pen names because I’m creating anything naughty like I’ve done in the past. I merely find more freedom in writing under a pseudonym at times so I can write more truthfully, without worrying about invading the privacy of myself, my family or anyone around me.

It’s fun to write books that can tell the honest, raw and real truth, and then lead folks to Christ therein by showing them the things He’s shown me. And thank the Lord that Amazon is making this process so much easier.

I will let you know how my experiments with different titles and backlinking methods affect my sales as the year progresses. Now let me get off this blog and get back to my book so I can get that title up and running!

I used Adobe Photoshop to create my Kindle book cover

Oh yes, and by the way, another thing they don’t go into in the video is how to create your Kindle book cover. The last time, I did it myself, using a copy of PhotoShop Elements that I’d picked up from Best Buy.

This time, I plan to do the same thing, because a good-looking cover makes all the difference. Even though Photoshop isn’t as intuitive as I would’ve liked for it to be, at least they have a guided tour (and there are lots of tutorials on YouTube) that can help get you through the process.

I see great things...

I want to set up a nice little template in Photoshop that lets me use different pics in the middle or wherever, and create the book title and author name and make it easy to use again and again, but not staid or boring.

Eye-popping, eye-catching covers that scream to readers, “Buy me! Buy me!”

And I was amazed how hard it was to find the simple image requirements for a Kindle book cover, so I think I decided to go with one man’s advice to, “Use the JPEG image format, size 600×800 pixels.”

So there you go. There’s practically no excuse now not to put that Word document up on Amazon.com and call yourself a published author!

They don’t even have to be that long. Amazon doesn’t have a minimum word count for Kindle books, but you’ve got to be able to set the expectation for your readers by somehow warning them in the description or reviews — somewhere other than that “Print Length” field pictured here, because some buyers may skip right over that.

I learned that when I listened to the Ty Cohen webinar, and he explained how he gets stay-at-home moms and other people to write books for him, and somewhere in there I inferred that they weren’t that long, because when I did some research into him and other marketers making money off Kindle books, I remember reading reviews dubbing it “short and power packed” or whatever.

I wouldn’t go charging $7.99 for a 21-page book, for example, but I think 99 cents would be fair in that instance, as long as it’s not stolen writing and the book really helps someone. You can even go free with the new KDP Select options, and hope you make eventually enough sales to get as big of the KDP Select $700,000 funds as some of the most popular Kindle writers have gotten in January 2012.

Okay, there’s my 1,391-plus words on the subject. About 3,600 more words and I could have myself a Kindle Single! That reminds me, the Kindle Singles program does have a minimum word count of 5,000 words — however, they reportedly don’t accept how-to types of books, even though I think I saw one in the Kindle Singles store.

Those lend themselves to essays and the like, and I plan to apply to have my book accepted in the Kindle Singles store once it’s published, even though I heard it can take a while to get through the review process.

No worries — onward and upward, Christian publishing soldiers!

Impeach Obama bumper sticker

So for the second time in my life, I saw a car boldly displaying a big old Impeach Obama sticker — more like a rear window decal — on the butt of their vehicle.

I followed behind it closely, trying to snap a close-up pic of the “Impeach Obama” sign on the SUV — but that sucker was moving fast (and a result, so was I) — I guess anti-Obama folks really put the pedal to the medal ’round these Ohio parts.

Seriously? I mean really? It’s only January 2012…

Really? Seriously? (Imagine that being said in an Amy Poehler-style voice on that SNL news segment.)

Do people really want President Obama impeached?

The first time I saw an Impeach Obama bumper sticker back on September 7, 2011 — the night before my 13th wedding anniversary — I was taken aback.

Today, when I Googled “Impeach Obama” to see where this grassroots campaign is headed, I saw sites dedicated to the notion, as well as petitions and the latest athlete in the news for refusing to go the White House.

Oy vey. Oy vey.

I won’t even get into that time I saw people with the “Pray for Obama” with Psalm 109:8 bumper sticker that reads, “Let his days be few; and let another take his office and charge” — with an even scarier next verse that should be nowhere near Obama’s name in any prayers.

And then there’s the Atlanta Jewish Times owner and publisher Andrew Adler who just stepped down for getting in trouble over suggesting that our president be killed.

So as I ready myself to watch his address tonight through my purple haze of oral surgery healing, I can’t help but ask…

Is it really that bad? Does the hate need to be that strong?

I guess for some folks it is all horrible, and they lay all the blame and vitriol at the feet of President Obama.

I didn’t like it when haters did it to George “Dubya” — and I don’t like them doing it to #44.

Even some of his famous celebrity supporters who famously campaigned hard for him have turned their minds and backs on the man that people like me in this pivotal, important swing state put in office when we shaded in that oval next to Obama-Biden instead of McCain-Palin.

I tell you what — not many of those Republicans I watched last night through my haze of muscle relaxers could get me to sway my vote towards their perfectly coiffed and polished selves — okay, Gingrich and Ron Paul aren’t gelled to the high heavens, I’ll give them that much.

Which is a lot, in view of those racist newsletters Paul claims he didn’t write, and based on the bloated standing ovation Newt got when CNN’s John King boldly asked him about open marriage claims. (Love the way Nancy Giles ripped into Gingrich in this video…)

And I’ll admit that Romney did make some good points about capitalism, and I’m glad he finally released his tax forms, but like I told a Jewish friend over lunch last week, “I can’t see myself voting for a Mormon.” (I guess Jesus Himself would have to tell me to do so…)

And the beat goes on…

And the yellers will yell…

And the debaters will debate…

We’ve got all the way until November 2012 to watch this political road show unfold, and what a good one it is primed to become.

Look at the comedy of errors freak show that Herman Cain turned out to be.

And we’re just getting started.

So I plan to stay here, behind my Mac — writing my posts and pieces and Kindle Singles.

And if I’m still in this battle ground of a state come election time, I’ll let you know if I darken that same Obama oval I did four years ago…because I’m learning in life that the loudest voices or the lying voices whispered into the ears of folks by manipulators trying to manipulate aren’t always the ones that win the war in the end.

I love it when I can remember my dreams — or the words God gives me from heaven upon waking, or even during visions I have all over the place, be it the steam room or at church or in my bathtub or wherever.

So much so that I started a Prophetic Dream Journal, where I write out some of my dreams and upload sketches of visions — but mostly I scribble them around in my “Seeking Him” study book or in private Word documents when I can.

Model Persecuted

That’s the exact title I saw in my dream last night. I know for sure it was “model” — and I’m pretty sure “persecuted” followed. It was a short two-word title on this website, and since I often ask God to show me titles of what to write, I’m going with that one. He’s often opened doors when I follow his leading.

When I saw the title “Model Persecuted” in my dream and woke up, forcing myself to remember it by repeating it over and over again in my head, I couldn’t help but think of Lauren Scruggs, the pretty model who was injured when she walked into the turning propellers of a plane.

I’ve dreamt of her before I even heard of the event — because the night before her injury occurred, I had a dream about a female Christian leader with the fingers on her left hand cut off. I didn’t even want to write that one down anywhere, because it just seemed so horrible. I don’t like talking about the horrible visions.

When warning dreams become reality…

My regular readers know I love blogging and writing about how much money I actually make online — and finding out how much other people make by writing and blogging online.

I like the facts, not the hyped-up scammers just trying to scam people out of money.

So I love it when other bloggers honestly confess how much they’re making (or not making) by writing online through various venues.

So how much have I been making online and how do I do it?

All by the God of all grace, of course.

I came online in 2005 — and only made a couple of hundred bucks at first. At some point I was up to $12K per year, and by 2009, I was making more than $43K online.

In 2010, I brought home over $50K — and in 2011 I brought home $26,759.63.

Read many more details about all the places that paid me to write here…

What happened to decrease my online writing/blogging income in 2011?

I can point to a few things that affected my writing income in 2011.

Hmmm....

First and foremost was the “Google Panda” update that affected the rankings of some of the sites I write for, chiefly Examiner.com, which has been my highest income-producer the past few years.

It’s really making me want to expand my horizons beyond the places that require Google as a go-between to get traffic.

Also, my father died, and I was a lot busier in ministry than I am now — though I consider my online writings a big ministry.

Seeing as though it’s a new 2012 year, I’m looking forward towards the things that are probably going to make me a lot more money going forward — stuff that satiates the digital desires of all the Kindle Fires and tablets people are buying.

I’m taking a cue from some of the fascinating things I learned in The Day the Kindle Died, a controversial book written by a guy who was able to game Amazon.com and get his book noticed.

Just researching online money-making books on Amazon, I see that there are still plenty of scammers trying to take funds from people without giving them a quality product in exchange.

So here’s my plan to make big bucks in 2012 with Kindle books

Ty Cohen

Since I love writing so much, and Kindle books have surpassed print books in sales, I want to write more.

I already have a Kindle book on Amazon written under a pen name, but it barely gets any sales, because I didn’t give it a good SEO’d title, and I didn’t market it in many of the ways I know folks are marketing their stuff online.

One guy that inspired me and my friend when we watched and listened to his webinar is Ty Cohen — “Did you know he was a Negro?” my black techie friend asked me, making me laugh.

Even though I didn’t buy Cohen’s products, I was intrigued by his claims of making $100,000 — I think per month, if memory serves — by paying stay-at-home moms to write Kindle books for him, and he publishes them and markets them and makes the profit. (He also publishes under pen names on Amazon.com)

Since I already know the Kindle publishing process, and I know how to research hot topics through places like Google Adwords’ Keyword Tool and SEOBook.com’s Keyword Tool — plus, since Amazon has made it so easy to publish Kindle books from HTML or Word documents, that’s my next step.

I like shifting with the tides and going to the cutting edge places to make money online that aren’t saturated.

And I also plan to continue with the plan to get apps in the App Store — once I get my Macbook Air back all nice and fixed, and once I pay the 99 bucks to get into the Apple Developer program and at least I can start with the free AppMakr pulling in my RSS feeds into the Apple App Store and seeing how much mobile ads pay.

Here’s the 2011 detailed breakdown of my blogging earnings by month…

…and again, if you want more nitty-gritty details, read how I made the monies and find links to the places here…

I wasn’t the biggest fan of working in a line of gray cubes under fluorescent lighting for around nine hours per day when I worked in corporate America — but I was so grateful for the $72,000 per year it paid me before I abandoned ship the first time to stay home with my babies.

The whole concept of feeling trapped in cube hell came back to my mind the other day when my husband and I watched Office Space again — that amazing movie from 1999, so well-written and acted that people can’t help but relate to many parts of it, at least wanting to try some of the things the main character does when apathy and anger sets in.

One scene I loved is when Peter Gibbons, who longs for a view beyond the grayness of his cube wall, takes it upon himself to unscrew the cube wall and lets it fall. He exhales and sits back, finally taking in the view outside the company’s windows and life beyond his humdrum existence.

What does your cube look like?

These days, a full seven years since my name has graced the outside of a gray cube inside a corporate office, my “cube” can be just about anywhere 3G will take me — but mainly consists of places like my bedroom and living room, where I’m typing this now, staring out my picture window at Ohio streets and trees covered in the first real snowfall of winter.

But even though my office can go mobile — and I can blog via my Droid or iPad 2 devices, that’s not stopping me from entering the new Pimp My Cube Contest.

I’ve already registered with Pimp My Cube, and you should too — especially if you work in one of the “worst, most pathetic and messy” cubicles or offices they are seeking.

They want people to upload their own videos (from 30 to 60 seconds long) showing why their workspace is bad and how much they want the Contest Factory come in and “pimp out” their cube for the $1,200 grand prize, based on winning votes and other criteria for their video and best story.

There’s also a second sweepstakes prize of a $200 gift card that will be awarded randomly at the end of the content period, which ends on 1/31/12 at 12:00PM.

So visit the Pimp My Cube site and let me know when your video is up so I can watch it. (It helps to have your friends and family vote on your video to try and increase your chances of winning.) I’ll let you know when mine is up and approved — then we can check out each other’s workspaces.

I tend to take my new Macbook Air plenty of places, and I love to multi-task at times.

That’s why I was in the bathroom, juggling a bowl of grapefruits soaked in juice above my Macbook Air — trying to eat and write and um, yeah, all at once.

Sounds crazy when I write it, but it’s funny how much stuff one can get done in a day.

Spilled the grapefruit juice on my new Macbook Air keyboard — and then sobbed…and then felt better

Sad but sunny turned great day...

When I first spilled the juice on my Macbook keyboard, it took me a few seconds to get it cleaned off, and I tried to dry it as best I could.

I mean, I didn’t pull out the hair dryer like some sites recommend, but I did store it away upside down in our cold-butt sitting room while my husband took us out for New Year’s Eve.

At first it seemed to be working fine, but eventually the track pad wouldn’t respond right, and the keys wouldn’t type the right letters — or rather, they’d type some and others would stick, or another would type multiple times when I didn’t want it to.

I couldn’t even get past the password unlock screen to get to the files I had on board.

I got so freaking sad about that and other New Year’s Eve emotions that I nearly went to a bad place. I probably looked much sadder than I did in this pic from a few weeks ago, when I was crying before the Lord one sunny day (I’m usually not this sad, by the way, I was just getting over something) and soon after He gave me a great treat of sorts — and later my friend came over while my husband was away in Florida, and we stayed up all night talking till nearly 6 a.m. the morning of the lunar eclipse.

You make me better…

The real "Big Apple"

So yeah, of course our Maker made me better.

I had another good sob locked away from the world in the bathroom after I realized I may have ruined a 2-month-old $1,300 machine without a warranty.

Even if I did have a warranty, I don’t think Apple covers spill damage — check to make sure, but I’m pretty sure that’s what I read and what they told me.

I went online after He calmed me down, letting me know it’s not the end of the world, but that it could be fixed — and thank Him that I still have other devices to publish with — like his wonderful Toshiba that my husband is letting me borrow so I could make my Social Spark writing deadlines that will pay nearly 70 bucks for only 200 words (though I always type more!) and complete other work.

I learned just how many people spill liquids on their Mac keyboards — and there were even brave souls that took their Macbooks apart themselves to try and fix them.

I thought of going that route, but instead I took that Macbook that I got on Black Friday in Chicago from the Apple Store on Michigan Avenue into my local Apple Store in Summit Mall in Akron, Ohio.

So that’s how Apple makes their money…

That’s what my husband said when I asked him, “Guess how much they want to fix my Macbook?”

I anticipated around $300 — having only done a cursory search of costs to fix Macs with spill damage online.

My husband guessed $500 to fix the thing.

But the price the Apple Store guy told me as the flat-rate fee they charge had me repeating him — me, the in-the-know techie that didn’t expect to be surprised.

“And the rate would be seven fifty-five,” said one of the red-shirted Apple Store cool employees, with those white apples with the big bite taken out of it. (I still gotta Google why Steve Jobs or his counterpart came up with that logo…)

“Seven fifty-five?” I repeated, knowing he couldn’t have meant $7.55, because I was already expecting a figure in the hundreds.

“Yes, $755,” he clarified.

Okay, I thought, pulling out my Amex card to call them and warn them of a large purchase I’d soon make.

Thank God they always go through as He wills them to…

He sent me over to the Apple bar, or whatever they call that customer service bar — and I snapped the above pic of my MacBook Air before leaving it in the trusty hands of Ola, a nice Apple employee who checked me in as I glanced down at the shatter iPhone of a guy in front of me also at the bar.

I felt empowered to just go ahead and charge the $755 if I had to — even though I knew I could buy the bottom of the line Mac for nearly that price, or definitely get a refurbished one for that price, but I wanted mine fixed.

As I stood there and prayed for favor, there was a pause, and instead of sending it out — they overnight it to one of two locations in the US and overnight it back — they are going to see about fixing it in-house.

So whether it’s really going to be $755 plus tax or much less, or whether God is raising my income to meet that cost and pay off the Amex that He always miraculously does by just bringing in different writing jobs or new ideas or more favor and the effort and chutzpah to make more money and move things around, I trust Him and thank Him to do it all over again.

Apple said it’s a common thing for people to spill liquids on their Macbooks…

…so don’t feel too badly if you’ve done the same thing.

Stay tuned to see what happened, and like me on Facebook above for more.

In the meantime, I’m keeping liquids far away from my electronics in the present and future.

And thanking the Lord for cleaning up another one of my messes.

Oh yeah, Apple said that $755 would be a very thorough check — and that they would try to salvage the files I have on my flash drive. I really pray they can, because I didn’t do the old email-myself-files-I-want-to-save-through-Gmail like I do for a lot of files, but at least I believe I did for one big one.

Yes, I am still making money via writing for Examiner.com

A lot of people have found my writings about Examiner.com over the past years that I’ve written for them, either via my PaulaMooney.blogspot.com posts or the articles on this website detailing how much I’ve made writing for the website since I was accepted in September 2009.

It’s no secret and I won’t lie — back then it was a lot easier to get pageviews, and therefore, more money.

In fact, I kind of kick myself at times for not applying to write for Examiner earlier in 2009 (or even 2008, if I could have) when I used to see them splattered all over Google News.

I heard that the top Examiners were pulling down $8,000 per month or more back then — it’s just not many people other than me blog about their Examiner earnings, so I couldn’t verify the rumors.

But I was soon enough experiencing the goo-gobs of money writers could bring down by writing for Examiner — and I exposed this in a YouTube video showing my actual PayPal account, replete with over $6,000 made one month, after writing about the Tiger Woods scandal and other stuff:

Apply here, if you dare…

Ah yes, those were the days…

How much money are writers making with Examiner.com now?

Well, that’s the question various writers and followers will ask me in my Yahoo! Contributors Network email inbox, or via my gmail or wherever they can find me.

And I tell them the truth: It ain’t as easy as it used to be, but it is still possible to make money writing for Examiner.com, if you’re willing to work for it and have realistic expectations.

Plus, if you get creative, there are ways to expand your Examiner.com income.

Let me explain.

When I first started writing for Examiner, I began with one column, the Cleveland Pop Culture column.

That was all well and good but kind of limiting when I wanted to write about stuff outside of Cleveland.

So I asked my channel manager at the time, and I was able to get a Christian TV and Christian Music channel column as well.

The Christian TV tends to make the most, with Cleveland Pop Culture coming in second — at least in terms of these estimated amounts that will actually round out higher for the month of December 2011, to be paid around January 20, 2012:

01/20/12	EXAMINER dec 2011 EARNINGS – CHRISTIAN MUSIC $10.26
01/20/12	EXAMINER dec 2011 EARNINGS – CHRISTIAN TV $331.48
01/20/12	EXAMINER dec 2011 EARNINGS – CLEVELAND POP CULTURE $265.67
01/20/12	EXAMINER dec 2011 EARNINGS – INTERNET DEALS $50.95

But what these figures don’t show are monies I make in addition to the Examiner.com pageviews.

How writers can make more money via Examiner.com by writing about products, deals, trips, etc.

For example, when I kept trying to sneak in articles about products I’d find online, Examiner just encouraged me to add another column on that topic, so thank God I got the national Internet Deals column.

And even though it shows around 50 bucks made for the month in terms of pageviews, the real money is in the affiliate links contained therein.

For example, if you check out that Internet Deals column, you’ll see that I wrote a lot about Groupon deals in November and December, and that turned out to be pretty lucrative, adding more income to my overall online income.

You see, places like Groupon are advertisers that are a part of the CJ.com network, and if you go there and apply and they accept you — read more on “How to Get Approved for Some Commission Junction Advertisers When You Keep Getting Denied for Affiliate Program Advertisers...” — they will give you a cut of the pay of people who buy deals through the special links they give you.

My Groupon sales through CJ.com - CLICK TO ENLARGE

The advertiser rates of payment vary, but for example, if I bring Groupon a new user on a deal that they buy for $200, I’ll get 10% — or $20 for that sale.

Many of them are less than that, but everything adds up. And there are a bunch of other percentage scale factors that increase your earnings with the amount of products sold.

To tell you the truth, I’m still figuring out the payment timing of CJ.com — I know they pay me pretty quickly once I make the $50 minimum payout threshold from the previous month. And they deposit it directly into my checking account as I have set up, around the 18th of every month that I make money.

Best Buy is another advertiser that you’ll find in the CJ.com network, so if you write about products and sales and customers buy via your affiliate link like mine I just linked to, you’ll make a certain amount of pay.

And then there’s the eBay Partner Network, whose affiliate links I use in articles like the popular Nike Air Jordan XI shoes on eBay going for $400 and stuff.

They pay not only for clicks, but also for users who get the winning bids — they give you some kind of percentage of income for that as well.

It’s not always much — for example, I see I’ve made like $10 or more for this month of December 2011 through that venue, but like I say, it all adds up.

And I see one month I made $188 or so through the eBay Partner Network in 2010. So play around and see what happens.

I kind of like the eBay to Go widget like I hopefully have displayed to the left, but honestly, just a nice text link written about in the context of your article is probably your best bet.

Lead me with strong hands... I love that song!

And then there’s always the good old Amazon Associates program, if you’re blessed enough to reside in a state where they haven’t kicked you out — nor if you haven’t figured out a legal way to stay in the program by setting up a business based in another state — but check with the experts on that legal stuff.

Once you’re in that program, Amazon will give you affiliate links like the ones I included in my article about the Lead me with strong hands… song that I love by Sanctus Real.

So it’s not just all about Internet deals and products, but you can naturally link to songs or whatever that you love anyway and pass them on to your readers.

And even though each Mp3 download I sell through my Amazon links may only make 10 cents or whatever, it really adds up when you’re talking about those amounts of sales kicking me and you into a higher threshold of sales on Amazon’s percentage scale along with all the other products we sell, like the hot Kindle Fire, Full Color 7″ Multi-touch Display, Wi-Fi that everybody and their mother bought their kids this Christmas — thank You, baby Jesus!

Making that moola...

How it all adds up, and what I love most about writing for Examiner.com

If I were a more organized person, I’d be able to tell how much exactly are product sales I made through my own website affiliate links and through affiliate links in my Examiner articles and other places online — love increasing that online real estate! — but alas, who wants to track all those freaking channels?

Anyhoo, let’s say December 2011 closes out with more than $658 made via my Examiner.com articles based on their payment to me from my cut of the advertising, that’s one portion.

And then for the dear people like you who read these honest pieces and then click on the affiliate links like these to try and write for Examiner, I get I believe 50 bucks each for those who actually get accepted, not 5 bucks each anymore for everyone who applies. Examiner used to have an affiliate program through CJ.com, but that’s now defunct. They give us our own affiliate links through Examiner.

So say four people apply and get accepted through my links, that’s an extra $200 added onto the $658 or more made above, so that’s $858 potentially earned through Examiner. But I won’t know my referral monies until January 20, 2012, so I’m not including that yet.

I’m estimating Examiner brought me well over $1,000 from December 2011 writing because I’m adding the $658 plus the over $344 from CJ.com they’ve already paid me (I guess that’s from Nov/Dec sales — I still have over $300 on the way from them) plus whatever part of that $400 from Amazon Associates sales is related to sales via my affiliate links on Examiner.

Hopefully that all makes sense, even if you’re a newbie online with this sales stuff.

Which brings me to the thing that I love most about Examiner and why I still write for them over two years later, even after the wrath of the Google Panda update sent others scurrying away and complaining on forum boards when they could be writing instead:

I love the Google News exposure Examiner.com provides…

Exposure can bring you before great men...

You can barely beat the feeling and rush you can get when you’ve written a great article that you feel passionately about — or even a ho-hum one that still has God’s favor on it — and it receives Google News approval and lands smack dab on the front page of Google in the news results based on a popular search term that people are typing in at the time.

(And it’s not just the amount of people who find you — it’s who finds you. Like when Bishop T.D. Jakes’ people contacted me. The Lord of love alone knows where that is leading…)

It won’t always happen, but if something is going on with Tim Tebow, for example, like his SNL skit, and people typing in “Tim Tebow” are able to see your news article planted prominently from Examiner, that’s a good thing.

You can’t expect to get rich — you’ve gotta work, but I still like combining all the ways of earning money online even as I try new ones to supplement the ones that don’t necessarily pay as much as they used to as easily as they used to.

These methods aren’t for everybody, and part of me kind of likes that because I feel like it gives an edge to those of us willing to work hard enough and let the “Father of the heavenly lights” provide us with new and varied ideas and ways of making online — plus the less competition we have when the complainers drop out.

Stay tuned for a coming post about how I surprisingly made money with The Company Corporation that I didn’t expect through an old Blogger/Blogspot blog…

Oh yeah, and I guess I’d better calculate my entire 2011 online income — as well as all my expenses — seeing as though 2012 is mere hours away from arriving.

The taxman cometh — and thank Jehovah Jireh for always providing more than enough even when I don’t save responsibly!
