Choose the best words for your dot com domain name…
If you’re thinking about creating your own website to make money online, make sure to choose your domain name in such a way that’ll bring you the most traffic from Google.
Like when I started a website helping people find Wii stock for $249.99, I made sure to include good keywords in the domain name.
Make liberal use of the SEO Book Keyword Tool combined with Google suggestions — those terms that appear as you’re typing a search term into the Google toolbar search box — to figure out the kind of stuff people type in.
Check out your dot com domain name competition
I used to SEO Book Keyword Tool to find out that there’s a healthy search interest in Pastry Shoes, but then I Googled the competition to find that another website has got that pretty locked up in a good way, so I decided to go another route.
So before you just type any ol’ name in GoDaddy.com or wherever, make sure to research it first so you’ll get natural traffic from it, like my other site about where to buy Nintendo DS Lite in stock.
Using good keywords in your dot com name — and especially long keywords! Don’t worry if you’ve got 5 or more words in there; I’ve gotten a lot of success with that — will help people find you.
Stay tuned for my step-by-step instructions to setting up your own website…
